Abstract EN

The importance of history sources in Sharjah substantially increased, especially in the last quarter of the past century.

This is due to the great progress the emirate has witnessed in the cultural sector, and it would not have been possible had it not been for the direct and special interest of the ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr.

Sultan Al Qasimi, (May Allah protect him).

After his Highness had made his scientific and historical collections available to the public of students and researchers, their scientific importance increased more, hence the idea of the present study.

In the theoretical part of this research, I reviewed the linguistic and idiomatic concept of manuscripts and the historical sources in addition to presenting the emergence and development of the science of the Arabic manuscript in relation to Sharjah.

As for the practical part, I reviewed the efforts made by Sharjah in serving manuscripts, and how this service has evolved into an institutional work through the establishment of governmental agencies and institutions.

I also named the most important institutions concerned with manuscripts in Sharjah and the services provided by each institution.

Finally, I provided some applied models for Sharjah manuscripts.

The research reached several results, most notably : taking care of Sharjah manuscripts by preserving and maintening them, working on verifying and publishing the manuscripts of Sharjah and also working on indexing, classifying and publishing them.

As for the scientific aspect, the value of Sharjah manuscripts is generally evident in terms of scientific research and education, and particularly in history.

They also have a value in consolidating the national component of society and developing its economy.
