Abstract EN

This research deals with study and analysis of Arab wise men in the period before Islam, by referring to the most prominent sources that focused on the history period of the Arabs before Islam.

The study is carried on through collection of all the names of wise men from various sources, alphabetical arrangement of their names alphabetically, and identification of (published translation) of all the wisest men, in addition to explaining the most prominent wisdom, parable, or poetry common to the Arabs at that time.

The researcher relied on the most prominent Arab sources that talk about prevailing wisdom and wise men.

The study found considerable confusion in Arab sources between the terms 'rulers' and 'wise men'.

Th e researcher provided specific details in the main part of the study.

He also reached several results, including : the absence of a translation for some of the wise men, the presence of many proverbs stated by these pundits, as well as their sharing of a proverb or saying without specific identification of its enunciator.
