Abstract EN

The study aimed to reveal the percentage of stored body fat among the members of the research community, to know the most common body shape among the members of the research community, and to reveal a comparison between the body shape among the members of the two research communities of the two cities (Halabja and Soran).

the research community included the two cities (Halabja and Soran) of different social strata in government departments, Soran schools, sports halls, public parks, non-governmental organizations, departments of university colleges (Halabja and Soran) of different ages, and the sample was chosen randomly, where it was the number of the participating sample is (653) people, males and females, and the sample number for the city of Halabja was (347) people, (189) the number of males and (158) the number of females, with ages ranging from (18-70), and the number of a sample for the city of Soran was (306).

(174) males and (132) females, with ages ranging from (18-68).

the researcher used the descriptive approach in the manner of survey studies to address the research problem.

the results showed a high value of the waist-to-hip ratio for both groups (Halabja community and Soran community), and the body shape type for both samples was (apple shape) in general, and the BMI value was high and across the limits of weight gain at the beginning of the obesity region, and the value of high waist-to-hip ratio for the group (Halabja community) for both sexes and the body shape was (apple), and the waist-to-hip ratio was high for the group (Soran community) for both sexes, but the male shape was (pear) while the female shape was (apple).

Significant differences appeared in the waist-to hip ratio between males of the two groups (Halabja and Soran), but non-significant differences between females of the two groups.
