Abstract EN

this research aims to investigate the social and historical dimensions in two indicative models of the Saudi novel, by focusing on the structures of war, famine, and epidemic.

These two novels are (Safar Barlik) for Maqbool Al-Alawi, and (Quans) for Awad Al-Usaimi, as well as observing the phenomena, moving away from direct comparison, with an attempt to link the content to the form by studying the discourse of story, vision, social dimension and the productive contexts of the discourse through employing the related principles of the Genetic Structuralism Approach The research addresses the relationship of literature to life, and existence of epidemic and famine in Arabic literature, then tracing the narrative text of the two novels and monitoring those manifestations and their role in the development of events, to conclude with monitoring the social dimension and determining the world view learned from the two novels, without neglecting the discussion of the narrative discourse through time, place and narrative language, so as the research can combine studying the genetic structuralism and link it to the content dimension.

The research concluded that the narrative discourse possesses, through its structural characteristics, a special ability to express the various phenomena which appear to society, transferring it to a narrative world combines the language of expressed reality and the language of imagination as a creative work capable of addressing the issues of its reality and portraying its phenomena, as well as monitoring and revealing their causes, to be criticized through the point of view, in an attempt to change or transcend them.

All this has been revealed by the Genetic Structuralism investigation more clearly in (Safar Barlik) and less clearly in (Qunas) novels.
