Abstract EN

The current study aimed to identify the level of alexithymia (difficulty expressing feelings) and burnout among nurses, and to identify the significance of the difference in the level of alexithymia and the significance of the difference in burnout according to the gender variable (male-female), and to identify the nature of the correlation between alexithymia and burnout.

To achieve the aimes of the research, the two researchers adopted the Toronto Scale (TAS-20) by (Taylor, 1994), which was translated into Arabic by both Bouchoucha and Abdel Salam, 2020 to measure alexithymia, and the scale in its final form consisted of (20) items.

The researchers also prepared a burnout scale, which in its final form consisted of (30) items, and the psychometric properties were extracted from Validity and Reliability and in different ways for the burnout scale, then the researchers applied the two scales to a sample of (153) male and female nurses, The data was processed using appropriate statistical methods .

The results showed that nurses have a high level of alexithymia and a high level of burnout.

The results also showed that there are no differences between males and females in alexithymia and burnout, and that there is a significant and positive correlation between the two research variables.

In the light of these results, the researchers presented a set of recommendations and suggestions for future research.
