Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the reality of the special libraries of ministries and government institutions in the State of Kuwait from the point of view of their managers.

Qualitative research adopted, and data collected through interviews with 23 stakeholders using content analysis.

The axes of the interview included knowing the type of existing resources, services and activities provided by special libraries and identifying the type of information technology used, as well as the difficulties and problems facing government special libraries.

In addition, the most problem faced by special libraries is the lack or absence of special staff in library and information sciences, and there are libraries have a specific information they own, which imposes certain procedures on providing quality sources and providing services, such as libraries of a military and legal nature.

The study also presented various recommendations that would develop government special libraries, including improving the level of services through the application of information technology.

This study is the first in the State of Kuwait, which covers the reality of government special libraries and identifies the most important difficulties they face through direct interviews with those in charge of them.
