Both enjoy important strategic advantages in terms of space, economic and human resources, as well as their role in the region's issues during the past decades.

These relations have witnessed major transformations due to local and regional changes in the region.

During the Iran-Iraq war, Saudi Arabia was at the height of its relations with Iraq, and after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1991, the level of relations declined to the severing of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

After 2003 and the American invasion of Iraq, caution prevailed in those relations because of the Saudi position on the American occupation and the Saudi rejection of the nature of the political map and the political forces that took control of the reins of government and for sectarian reasons.

Then, relations witnessed improve ment after 2015 and progressed at a steady pace towards development to the present time.

We suppose that the local political and economic changes in both countries and at the regional level contributed to the enhancement of the development of those relations and the increase in the aspects of interaction between the two countries and their expansion in line with the goals of the two countries in develop ing their relations.
