Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the reality of digital preservation of information resources in the libraries of Jordanian public universities, from the viewpoint of their employees, and to know the impact of the variables : gender, academic degree, specialization, and years of experience on the employees' appreciation of this reality, and to achieve the objectives of the study and answer its questions.

A questionnaire was developed and distributed to a sample of (150) employees, of whom (133) responded, i.e.

(88.6%) of the total study members.

The results of the study indicated that the degree of employee appreciation of the reality of digital preservation in university libraries was medium, and that the field of difficulties facing digital preservation in official university libraries had obtained the highest rating among the fields, followed by the field of the importance of digital preservation, and then the field of awareness of workers towards the use of digital preservation The results are that there are no factors that create statistically significant differences in the factor of establishing conservation laboratories, Palestine, scientific soil, specialization, expertise, experience.

Based on the findings on the findings in the field of assistance working in the field of assistance : developing the skills of university library workers and training them on developments in modern technology And preparing them on an ongoing basis to deal with the digital environment and keep abreast of developments and how to deal with the digital preservation process, and to allocate part of the budgets of government university libraries for digital preservation and its requirements, in addition to the need for the Center of Excellence in cooperation with university libraries and the Jordan Library Association to hold beginner and advanced training courses in the field of digital preservation for workers in these university libraries in the field of digital preservation.
