Preserving and protecting the environment is a common matter that concerns the interests of states among themselves in order to achieve the maximum degree of cooperation, and there is no doubt that such cooperation requires legal regulation that gives it the nature of binding the provisions that will be adopted, and from here the states began to seek to achieve their common interests in regulating international cooperation issues.

In bilateral agreements, and these efforts culminated in a set of bilateral agreements, as they represent a legal document of interest and serve the international community in general and the countries that concluded them in particular.

Hence, we find the authorities concerned with protecting the environment in Iraq have concluded an important number of bilateral agreements that dealt with multiple issues.

Hence, the subject of this study acquires great importance at the level of legal research, because through it the role of bilateral agreements in protecting and improving the environment will become clear by looking at the agreements concluded by Iraq in this field.

Iraq has to organize this important aspect of issues that concern humans, nature and other creatures, in order to avoid the damages that may arise from them.
