في الجزائر العاصمة ووهران تم إنشاء منطقتين ذات تسيير ذاتي واللتين وجودتا خلال الفترة الانتقالية (مارس-سبتمبر 1962) خارج أي سلطة قانونية للثورة، حيث استجابت أسباب إنشائها إلى الحاجة إلى توفير الدعم المسلح لشبكات جبهة التحرير الوطني في المدينتين من أجل الدفاع عن السكان الجزائريين ضد التوغلات "الجريئة" المتزايدة للمنظمة السرية المسلحة في الأحياء الجزائرية ذات الكثافة السكانية.
في الجزائر العاصمة، أقيمت منطقة التسيير الذاتي الثانية (يناير-سبتمبر 1962) بمبادرة شخصية من رئيس الحكومة الجزائرية المؤقتة بن يوسف بن خدة وأوكلها إلى القائد عز الدين.
وتم إنشاء النمط نفسه من التسيير في وهران شهر أفريل 1962 من قبل هيئة الأركان العامة للولاية الخامسة في وجدة وأوكلت قيادتها إلى النقيب نيميش جلول (بختي).
لقد تم إنشاء كل منها "خارج ميدان المعارك" قصد أن تخدم في الوقت المناسب مساعي السباق على السلطة، حيث كان كل طرف يستعد ليوم الاستقلال ليضع في السلطة الطرف الذي كان سينجح في الخروج منتصرا من المواجهة التي اندلعت منذ ربيع عام 1961 بين جيش التحرير الوطني وهيئة الأركان العامة والحكومة الجزائرية المؤقتة.
Abstract EN
The two autonomous zones of Algiers and Oran, which existed during the transitional period (march-September 1962), were created outside of any legal authority of the revolution.
the reason given for their creation was the need to provide armed support to the FLN networks of the two cities in order to defend and channel the Algerian populations against the increasingly “audacious” incursions of the OAS against neighbourhoods with large Algerian populations.
in Algiers, the second autonomous zone (january-september 1962) was set up on the personal initiative of GPRA President Benyoucef Benkhedda, entrusting it to commandant Azzedine; the one in Oran, was created in April 1962 by the EMG of Wilaya V in Oujda and its command entrusted to captain Nemiche Djelloul (Bakhti).
each was created 'off the field' and intended to serve, in due course, as a base for the race for power; and each was preparing for the day of independence to put on the flag the clan that would have managed to emerge victorious from the arm-wrestling match that had been going on since the spring of 1961 between the EMG / ALN and the GPRA.

Les deux zones autonomes d'Alger et d'Oran, qui ont existé durant la période transitoire (mars-septembre 1962), ont été créées en dehors de toute instance légale de la révolution.
le motif invoqué de leur création répondait à la nécessité d'apporter un soutien armé aux réseaux FLN des deux villes pour défendre et canaliser les populations algériennes contre les incursions, de plus en plus «audacieuses», de l'OAS contre les quartiers à fortes populations algériennes.
à Alger, la deuxième zone autonome (janvier-septembre 1962) fut installée à l'initiative personnelle du président du GPRA Benyoucef Benkhedda, en la confiant au commandant Azzedine; celle d'Oran, lui faisant pendant, fut créée en avril 1962 par l'EMG de la wilaya V à Oujda et son commandement confié au capitaine Nemiche Djelloul (Bakhti).
chacune fut créée «hors-champ» et destinée à servir, en temps voulu, de base à la course au pouvoir; et chacune se préparait pour le jour de l'indépendance à mettre sur le pavois le clan qui aurait réussi à sortir vainqueur du bras de fer engagé depuis le printemps de 1961 entre l'EMG / ALN et le GPRA.
