Abstract EN

Spiritual upbringing is a type of divine upbringing that requires following ethical rules put forth by the Holy Quran and the teachings of the Fourteen Infallibles (PBUT).

the current study utilizes a descriptive-analytical method to collect the necessary data from library sources in an attempt to explain and describe the concepts and principles of spiritual upbringing based on the teachings of imam Ali (PBUH).

the main objective of this study is to identify the methods and approaches of spiritual upbringing based on the valuable teachings of imam Ali (PBUH) as the first Shiite imam, the successor to the holy prophet of Islam (PBUH), and the religious model to millions of Muslims.

the analysis of the collected data shows that spiritual upbringing can be discussed based on three main principles of religious upbringing, ethical upbringing, and mystical upbringing.

the most important measures of spiritual upbringing identified in the study as the methods of spiritual upbringing include the concepts of models of virtue, kindness and forgiveness, preaching, annunciation and warning, gaining knowledge, learning lessons, remembering death, measuring the acts of the soul, and repentance.

evaluating and thinking about the teachings of imam Ali (PBUH) can help his followers to cleanse their soul of vices and perfect it with spiritual virtues to reach the main goal of creation, i.e., absolute perfection for all human beings.
