The study dealt with the legal provisions for severance pay in jurisprudence and law-with a focus on Sudanese law-in terms of its concept, basis, how it is calculated, and its relationship to social insurance.

the problem of the study was that severance pay is a right given to the worker at the end of the employment contract, and therefore its nature differs from all other rights of the worker.

since it is not compensated for a specific work performed, the most important results of the study are that the severance pay appeared in labor legislation as a previous idea for the social insurance system, and it represents lump-sum compensation.

later, most countries issued social insurance legislation as an alternative system for the severance pay, despite this, some labor legislation continued to stipulate provisions for severance pay compensation as a parallel system or to fill the shortfall and shortcomings in the application of the social insurance system.
