Abstract EN

Unlike all other creatures, the human mind and his ability to perform complex thinking is a trait granted by Allah to man in particular.

Islam, in the same vein, has come to urge using the mind in contemplation and consideration of the Kingdom of Allah, along with the signs and religions revealed.

Also, it has provided a set of legislation that preserves the mind and protects it from getting astray.

By virtue of human nature, man is exposed to avoiding the righteous way and making improper judgments.

Here arises the significance of getting familiar with the controls that guide the mind in its thinking.

This piece of research addresses this issue through delving deep into the writings of an eminent Islamic scholar, namely, Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him.

Following a thorough study of his works, the researcher has found three key controls.

They are as follows : the first is a control of induction, the second is a control of fairness, and the third is a control of good pronunciation and integrity of expression.

Examples and evidence extracted from Ibn al Qayyim's works and books are provided to explain these controls.
