Many developing countries and emerging economies are seeking to form economic blocs, with the aim of improving their competitive capabilities and increasing economic growth in international markets.

Among these blocs, the BRICS group of countries stands out, which was established in 2009 and includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

The countries of the group are characterized by their large economic size and rapid growth, so Egypt sought to join the group, with the aim of benefiting from economic, trade and investment cooperation opportunities, especially after officially joining the membership of the New Development Bank, affiliated with BRICS.What followed was Egypt submitting an official request to join the group, and the approval, during the fifteenth BRICS summit held in South Africa, from August 22 to 24, 2023, to accept Egypt’s accession among six countries as new full members of the group, to enter into actual implementation as of January 1, 2024.

Which contributes to achieving sustainable economic development.

Increasing foreign investments and supporting the Egyptian economy.
