The participation of women in the political process in general is one of the most important conditions for democracy, because it is an application to begin with equality between all groups of society.

therefore, all countries seek to implement this condition by ratify a number local and international conventions that enhance the status of women, and among these countries is Algeria, which is still striving to integrate women into political work.

this is done through laws and legislation established by the successive Algerian governments.

however, despite this, women's political participation remains below the required level, due to the presence of many reasons that prevented this from being achieved.

the most important of these reasons are the customs and traditions that govern Arab society in general, and political systems and laws that are absent, or rather marginalize the role of women and make their political role formal.
