Abstract EN

This scientific paper aims to shed a deep light on sociological background of symbolic violence towards women through the Algerian proverbs which are considered as the most prominent components of popular culture for their influence on people’ ideas, trends and beliefs.

the popular proverbs include those who are based on gender conflict that evoke a wrong and imperfect image of women and reduce their value and status despite their scientific and professional degrees.

these popular proverbs are among the effective means through which violence goes through a symbolic soft and imperceptible as it differs from the rest of the forms of violence, which makes women voluntarily submitted.
