Abstract EN

This research deals with the Arib tribe, which is one of the tribes on which the Ottoman authority relied in Algeria, and this since the Ottomans entered to the country of Hamza; it formed the largest makhzen tribe in the region, where it provided a great service to the authority, as it participated with it in suppressing some rebellions and accompanied it in the m'halla (a camp) to collect taxes.

it also guarded the road passing on sour-el ghozlane, which links between Algiers and Constantine, and was also existed with some of the makhzen tribes around of Bordj Hamza (Hamza tower), where it worked to monitor the neighboring tribes of the tower, and in exchange for thes services it was exempted from paying taxes like other makhzen tribes, with the exception of some of them.
