Abstract EN

The current study aimed to develop a proposal for the social group worker's role in developing university youth's awareness of the dangers of climate change, in light of the national strategy for climate change in Egypt 2050, the analytical descriptive approach was utilized through designing 104-item questionnaire divided into five domains.

the sample comprised (484) university youth at the faculties and institutes of port said university.

the results indicated that the level of university youth’s awareness of the causes and manifestations of climate change came (high), as the results indicated that there are ways through which university youth's learn about the phenomenon of climate change, represented by social networking sites (Facebook and twitter) with a rate of (79.1%), and came in second place (satellite channels) with a rate of (46.1%), then came third place (lectures) with a rate of (19.6%), while the preventive and curative roles of the social group worker in developing university youth's awareness of the dangers of climate change came at a "low" level, and developmental role came at a "medium" level , the most important obstacles are the weak desire of university youth to participate in the activities of the various programs, the weak interest of social group workers to work with youth in implementing any activities related to awareness of the dangers of climate change, and then the youth's disbelief , the importance of the role of social group workers in such crises the study recommended designing special activities in the field of environmental protection within the tasks of social group workers in their work with university youth, then the participation of social group worker's in dialogue circles in the field of environmental protection and developing awareness of the dangers of climate change, and finally developing the awareness of social workers of the national strategy for climate change in Egypt 2050.
