The research aims to study the position of the United States of America regarding the members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, on August 29, 1969, hijacking the American plane (TWA) Flight 840, forcing it to land at Damascus International Airport, and then surrendering themselves to the Syrian authorities, who was standing by the Palestinian Fedayeen, which led to events A major political crisis between the Syrian authorities, who seized the plane and its passengers (the Israelis and the Americans) on the one hand, and the US administration and the Israeli government, which want to rescue its citizens and the plane, on the other hand.

The research sheds light on the reasons that prompted the US administration to adopt this position and its impact on the course of events and its contribution to ending the hostage-taking crisis and returning the plane to the owner company, as well as its impact on the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Middle East.
