The so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) represents a new stage of the conflict in Iraq, within the so-called concept of the war on extremist terrorism.

undoubtedly, the organization did not stop at its military borders, but rather now has enormous funds to perpetuate its terrorist activities.

most of its funds come from various sources of funding internally and externally, so the main purpose of freezing the financial assets of terrorists is to prevent the financing of terrorism and undermine its operations based on a number of international resolutions issued in this regard by the un security council to maintain international peace and security.

hence, the Iraqi legislator had to take a number of legislative measures to freeze ISIS funds in Iraq.

the Iraqi legislator formed a committee to freeze terrorist funds, whose main task is to freeze the financial assets of terrorists and other assets of persons identified by the United Nations sanctions committee or who have been designated at the national level, based on local lists, or at the request of a country, based on security council resolutions related to freezing financial assets, and in response to international cooperation to combat terrorism.
