This study focused on analyzing the central thesis advocated by the thinker Abdullah al-Arwi in his intellectual project, especially regarding his stance on heritage and modernity, as well as his critique of Salafist and reconciliatory trends in his attempt to uncover the historical backwardness that plagued Arab societies, by pushing them to think about the prerequisites of political and cultural reform, with the aspiration that they would engage in the movement of history and contribute to building modernity.

regardless of whether we agree or disagree with what al-Arwi contributions, it is imperative to recognize that his stance represented an intellectual alternative to the projects advocated by proponents of Salafist ideologies.
