The writing of history through various manuscripts and written sources is one of the most important mechanisms to access the historical truth and to know the developmental processes of societies throughout history in political, economic and social terms.

newspapers and journals are important documents in providing data and ideas about various modern and contemporary developments.

the contemporary history of Algeria has witnessed, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the emergence of newspapers and journals that worked for the spread of national awareness, publicized the Algerian issue, fought the colonial policy and followed the activity and developments of the national movement.

al-Manar is one of the most important Algerian newspapers that played these roles, especially in covering the activities of the Algerian students and their national and regional interests between 1951 and 1953.

as to the national issues, in addition to their cultural and sports interests, the students showed political interests in national unity and criticized the colonial policies in Algeria.

concerning their regional interests, the Algerian students abroad expressed their solidarity with their Egyptian, Tunisians and Moroccan counterparts in their liberation movements
