The phenomenon of school dropout is related to the situation of students, who have dropped out of school, it is one of the most serious problems facing modern societies, with the resulting disruption in social relations and economic activities, and Iraq is witnessing high levels of the phenomenon and is still unable to address it and end causes.

School dropout refers to the responsibility of the school and the family to push the student to be as illit-erate and unemployed people, or in a worst status as a criminal.

The results of the descriptive analysis showed that most school principals agree that the main reasons for school dropout are reasons belonging to the student him- self, including low academic achievement and difficulty in learning (94.4%), lack of studying interest and low level of education (72.2 %), and the study also showed that 88.89% of the school principals believe that the poor eco-nomic situation of the family plays a major role in the increase in the drop- out phenomenon, while others indicated that the use of proper and physical punishment by teachers against students (72.2 %) may lead to school drop- out.

The results of the study showed that all school principals agreed that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on education (100%) and had a major role in decreasing the level of education in all countries, and its negative effects continue until now.

However, solving this phenomenon goes through concerted efforts, raising awareness, reforming patterns of teaching in the family or school, learning and knowledge, and reducing the obstacles in the education system.
