Al-Istiqlal University plays an important role in drug prevention through its cooperation with educational, social, cultural and security institutions to familiarize them with the dangers of drugs and their negative effects, as well as to develop their capabilities for early detection of cases of abuse.

The importance of the study lies in the fact that it sheds light on the role played by Al-Istiqlal University as an educational and social institution for its students in preventing, addressing and combating the phenomenon of drug abuse.

The problem of the study is summarized in the following main question, (What is the role of Al-Istiqlal University in preventing the phenomenon of drug abuse from the point of view of its students? The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method, and the study was divided into two sections, the first section, which handled drugs, the reasons for their abuse and the security implications of them, and the second section handled the efforts of Al-Istiqlal University in preventing the phenomenon of drug abuse and the field study and its procedures.

The study concluded with a set of results, perhaps the most important of which is that Al-Istiqlal University has allocated a set of its courses that talk about drugs, with support for the cognitive dimension of its students to prevent drugs and its dangers to society, and with full support for scientific research in this field.

Based on the study, the researcher reached a set of recommendations, the most important of which is, the university should cooperate with other universities in adopting and developing policies for the prevention and control of drugs, and the university must be involved with the Drug Control Administration in preparing trained students in the field of drug awareness and prevention.
