Corona pandemic (Covid-19) is surprised the world with its ferocity and lethality, there is no doubt that the language was and still is clearly present in this pandemic; for its urgent need for persuasion.

So.

this research deals with the role of language in confronting this pandemic, especially since countries approached it with all the means they possessed to ward off its danger.

Language was present in this confrontation and the discourses adopted by the authorities were concerned with managing the battle against the Corona virus.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by the Ministry of health managed this confrontation with great power.

This is proved by the reports of experts and organizations around the world.

It adopted an argumentative discourse which makes the individual an element of confrontation, rather than a factor in the crisis, and this is affected by his commitment to the directives issued to him by the official authorities concerning the need to follow the instructions related to the behavior of the individual in health and social aspects.

The language of the Saudi Minister of Health’s speech worked on adopting the strategy of persuasion instead of the strategy of coercion, and therefore it relied on a large number of linguistic and semi-linguistic argumentative mechanisms, such as words of reasoning, types of description, emphasis, and rhetorical images, and what increased the argumentative value of these mechanisms is those reinforcements that the author of the discourse invested in strengthening the argumentative feature of his utterances, and these reinforcements include the general epidemiological context, the legal features of the speaker, and the nature of the relationship between the two parties of the discourse.
