Literary text is a mirror of the environment and community.

The writer's thoughts reflect his awareness of his community issues according to his vision and culture.

Hence, the focus was on the writer's critical perceptions and orientations in his speeches and contexts of various stories; of which, new speeches were formed, contradicting the visions imposed by his community and directing cultural behavior through communicative criticism that aims at symbolic benefit to social direction in order to contribute to self-formation and self-direction.

Community issues represent an important entity in intensifying meaning within the rhetorical text that is based on reasonable and cultural arguments in addressing these issues to persuade and influence the recipient Since Abdul Salam Hafez’s (Fatma and Other Stories) deals with many social issues, that prevailed the Hejazi Community during a certain period, it is selected as a model for this research.

The study aims to find out the contributions of such genre represented in Abdul Salam’s short story collection to the community's transformation and to identify its social effect.

The study concluded that community criticism within the writer's narrative texts has its guiding effect with respect to its revolution against the authority of violence and intrusive changes to community as well as its attack on some issues of marriage and women.

With regard to women and marriage, there are two groups; those who supported his criticism in his narrative discourse and those who opposed it, however, what is important is the emotions that his style provokes among individuals.
