Abstract EN

There is a disagreement among morphologists on the cases where the "lam" "ل "letter is extra and whether it is considered a letter of the word "Sa'altomuniha" سألتمونيها" or not?.

Thus, this research presents an inductive study of the "lam" "ل "letter in quadrilateral word roots in "Taj al-Aroos min Jawahir al-Gamous" by Murtadha al-Zubaidi (D.1205H) to arrive to the conclusion that resolves the disagreement on that issue.

The research reviewed all the non-doubled abstract quadrilateral words, in which the "lam" letter is one of their four letters.

They are (five hundred seventy) quadrilateral words.

The "lam" letter falls as the first letter in (twenty-three) positions, second letter in (two hundred eighty-six) positions, third letter in (one hundred sixty-six) positions and as last letter in (ninety-five) positions.

The aim of the research is to verify the authenticity of the "lam" in these words; whether it came as the first letter or inside the word as the second or third letter or as the last letter.

All these words were analyzed by correlating the quadrilateral words with the words that match them in pronunciation and connotation but with smaller structure by applying the evidence of etymology, which is the strongest evidence of excess and is considered the most reliable by morphologists.

It was found that (one hundred eighty-five) quadrilaterals belong to triple origins, and that the lam in such words is extra as evidenced by the derivation.

The study concluded that the lam did not fall as extra at the beginning of words; but in the second position in (sixty-one) words, and in the third position in (forty-six) words, and as the last letter in (seventy-eight) words.

This indicates that the lam is one of the letters of the word "Sa'altomuniha" "سألتمونيها", and it didn't come as addition in a few words or as an exception.

The most frequent positions in which it falls as a plus is at the end, then the second and finally the third position.
