Abstract EN

This research deals with the indicators of information society issue due to the importance of relying on statistical standards to measure the development of any field of knowledge.

as societies' developments are heading towards the information society type that were set by international bodies specialized in this field., the research aims to identify the indicators for Arab countries with a focus on the Algerian case.

thus, the research is based on the reports issued by the international telecommunication union, specified to measure information society.

these reports are utilized in this study to attain its aims and final goals.

this study falls within the framework of descriptive studies.

the study reveals that progress has been reached in the gulf countries in the field of orientation towards the information society.

however, some other Arab countries including Algeria, are late.

the study ends with a set of proposals submitted, on top of which is the adoption of an Arab cooperative strategy to move towards the information society to eliminate the digital divide.
