The participation of Algerian citizens who opposed the fifth term was strong during the February 2019 movement and beyond, across all regions of Algeria.

this reflects collective political awareness of the situation the country would face if the people had accepted the fifth term.

this awareness contributed to the resignation of president Bouteflika.

however, this awareness was not reflected in electoral behavior and political participation of citizens in the post-2019 elections.

this contradiction is observed and documented by every researcher in the reality of political participation after 2019.

through this research, we will try to understand and interpret the reasons for the decline in political participation in Algeria after February 2019 and read its implications and future effects on the trajectory of change in Algeria".
