Abstract AR
Abstract EN
The naval sultans of the Mamluk state were alerted to the danger of the Kingdom of Minor Armenia from an early age, as, during the Crusades, the Kingdom of Armenia contributed food supplies, military aid, and joint the warfare to the Crusaders.
In addition to the massacres committed by Armenians against the Muslims, as well as their participation with the Mongols in the destruction of Baghdad and the Levant and in overcoming difficulties faced by the Crusaders and the Mongols.
The Armenians pursued an economic policy against the Mamluks in the Levant and Egypt in a genuine attempt to hit the Mamluk economy, weakening their state by activating the trading port of Ayas and reducing taxes in an attempt to attract Westernized traders.
To eliminate this threat, the Mamluk sultans resorted to a strong policy of eradicating the minor kingdom of Armenia.
They pursued a policy called "scorched-earth policy" through a series of military campaigns that began during the reign of Sultan BAIBARS.
It ended with the demise of the Kingdom of Minor Armenia during the reign of Sultan Sha'ban bin Hussein in 1375.
This policy was based on killing and capture, the demolition of castles and fortifications, the destruction of ports, the burning of agricultural crops, and the destruction of everything that Armenians were benefiting economically and militarily.
