Abstract EN

In the late second century AH / early ninth century AD, the countries of the Lower Maghreb, or what was then known as Ifriqiya, witnessed the establishment of the Aghlabid state (184- 296 AH/800-909AD) with the blessing of the Abbasid Caliphate; so that this state is subordinate to the caliphate on the surface and independent of it in reality.

There is no doubt that this new political experience represented an unprecedented transformation in the system of government known for its central tendency, and its intolerance of any attempt to break away from the body of the caliphate.

Based on the foregoing, and in view of the absence of academic studies - according to what the researcher concluded - that dealt with this problem, this modest study comes with the intention of touching on the reasons that tempted the Abbasid Caliphate to allow the emergence of a political entity that is essentially separate from it, and then to determine the consequences of that political experience and the extent Matching its results to what was expected and hoped for.
