The intense focus on political engagement stands out as a key factor behind the doctrinal and ideological shifts witnessed within the leadership of the justice and development party these leaders appear to have grown convinced of the futility of direct confrontation with the political system and the limited impact of the ideological radicalism rooted in the Muslim brotherhood, particularly the takfiri ideas propagated by sayyid Qutb, advocating jihad against established political systems in the Arab world.

it is noteworthy that members of the justice and development party, under the leadership of Abdelilah Benkirane, consistently emphasize the importance of adhering to constitutional rules in their political endeavors.

they also explicitly acknowledge the religious and political roles of the commander of the faithful as an institution.

from this perspective, these political convictions have played a pivotal role in shaping the ideological transformation of PJD members and their pragmatic approach to political participation.
