Energy is the pivotal and indispensable foundation for the development in all societies and the future of energy is a key element in structural the future of the nation and, there is an urgent need to manage huge investments for long periods of time relatively to meet the growing demand of energy has emerged as the importance of finding alternatives and new patterns of economic power such as new energy sources, renewable, nuclear energy and coal power, achieving energy security, stability and protects against monopoly, taking into account maintaining a clean and safety environment.

in Egypt, increased demand for electricity due to population growth that increase rapidly, expansion projects and increase in the production of new and renewable energies in line with the requirements of future investments.

to cover the increasing demand of electricity in Egypt, the new and renewable energies will be expanded in coordination with the Egyptian electricity holding company (EEHC) and the new and renewable energy authority.

Egypt aims to reach 20% of the electricity mix by the end of 2022.

up to now 8.5% hydropower, 1.5% of wind power and very small percentage of solar energy and remaining about 10% which will be achieved through some mechanisms.

in spite of the gradual increase in the production of renewable energy during the period from 2006/2007-2015/2016 the increase reached to 234.1%.

in addition to the energy projects to be achieved, energy consumption should be rationalized.
