Abstract EN

With the rapid growth of digital technology that began in the mid-nineties of the twentieth century, the digital development has clearly appeared in facilitating some economic activities.

From this point of view, this study is exposed to the concept of the digital economy and its fields of use, as well as the applications of the digital economy in Africa, especially those that have clearly appeared in the light of the Corona pandemic, such as: e-commerce and the uses of financial technology, and its repercussions on the sustainable development process.

The study concluded that digital transformation is the basis for achieving sustainable economic development in Africa for the year 2063, which has been increased by the Corona pandemic, and that there are many economic advantages resulting from technological transformation, whether in the field of trade or in the financial sector in African countries, the most important of which is the promotion of financial inclusion digitization, and raising the efficiency and speed of financial services of all kinds.

Although there is a state of uncertainty about the final impact of financial technology due to the nature of the risks surrounding this transformation that threaten stability and security (including electronic risks and cyber security).

In this sense, policy makers in Africa will need to address many issues to reap the potential benefits of fin-tech.

It is expected that by 2035 technological innovation and infrastructure development can play key roles in allowing the continent to raise economic growth rates and achieve sustainable development based on digital transformation, and Africa should intensify its efforts towards bridging the digital divide by developing digital skills in various economic sectors.

Policy makers will need to bridge the large gap in technology infrastructure, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, improve public utility management to ensure adequate provision of electricity and Internet services, and attract domestic and foreign private financing for these projects, as well as the need for African governments to adopt a strategy at the national level.

A clear path towards digital transformation in line with the strategy of digital transformation in the continent, and the preparation of a time map for the stages of implementing digital transformation in the country to ensure implementation in line with the vision and sustainable development agenda for Africa 2063.
