The aim of the current research is to identify : The perceived academic competence of preparatory stage students.

Differences in perceived academic competence among middle school students according to the variables of gender (males.

females) and specialization (scientific.

To achieve the goal of the research.

the researcher adopted the scale (Pastorelli & Picconi.

which consists of (18) items that are answered according to the five-year Likert scale with alternatives (not able at all.

The researcher verified the validity and reliability of the scale.

The research targeted a sample of (400) male and female students from the preparatory stage.

The current research reached the following results : Middle school students have a good level of perceived academic competence.

There are no statistically significant differences in the perceived academic efficiency according to the variables of gender (males.

females) and specialization (scientific.

literary).Accordingly.the researcher concluded a set of recommendations and suggestions.
