Abstract EN

The current research aims to know: Emotional competence among university students.

Cognitive alert pattern among university students.

The differences in the relationship between Emotional competence and cognitive stimulation pattern among university students according to the variables of gender (male female) and specialization (scientific-human).

The current research was determined by the students of Al- Mustansiriya University, and their number was (400) for the academic year (2020/2021).

In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the Emotional competence scale was built, which consisted of (40) items, and the cognitive alert pattern scale was adopted (Lorraine, 1989).

Psychometric characteristics were extracted from the validity and reliability of the scales.

Pearson's correlation coefficient test, the alpha- Cronbach equation for internal consistency, and the following results were reached: University students have a high level of emotional competence.

University students tend to use (mid-brain) in processing cognitive stimuli.

There are no differences in the relationship between Emotional competence and the pattern of cognitive stimulation (strong right brain strong left brain) according to gender and specialization.

In the meantime, a number of proposals were presented.a number of recommendations and suggestions.
