Abstract EN

This study reviews the roots of the western tripartite investigation, to contribute to building a critical theory in the philosophy of civilization, by re-introducing the dimensions of investigation and its civilizational relationships.

considering that this issue is multi-dimensional and angles, so as far as it is a description of the fates of civilization, it is also a fragmentation of historical time and a distinction for it at the same time.

from this point; this study attempts to touch the concept of retrospection, and focus on its civilizational dimensions through the methodological approaches of the three historical eras: ancient, middle, and modern.

because projecting it on the long human history contradicts the logic of scientific judgments.

the study used the descriptive, historical, and comparative approach to describe the roots of the philosophy of retrospection from a western perspective, and then approached it with an eastern perspective, according to specific scientific mechanisms, which revealed some results that indicate the existence of intellectual implications in the term triple retrospection, which does not necessarily apply to all aspects of the historical process that human civilization has gone through.
