This study aimed to identify the reality of kinship ties in the urban milieu in light of the transformations that affected all aspects of life, and the role of its small and large units in activating the mechanisms of social control among adolescents, given the sensitivity of the age stage that this group is going through, and the value conflict that it is experiencing.

between what is allowed by the rapid spread of the values of liberation, and the societal norms that impose standards and boundaries that necessitate adherence and compliance to them.

through field research targeting the category of high school students, using the descriptive approach and observation and the questionnaire tool, and on a sample of 155 individuals, the study reached results that the positive contribution of the family as the smallest kinship unit in activating the mechanisms of social control by providing a healthy psychological and social environment to assist them in coping with the psychological pressures resulting from value conflicts, shared residence coupled with regular interaction contribute to achieving, with careful consideration to direct this group towards a safe and purposeful use of social media tools to enhance positive values.

while there are factors that impede the practice of the major units of kinship in performing their control function, the most important of which is the spatial spacing of members of the group of relatives, the thing that reduces opportunities for communication, and prevents the presentation of positive and purposeful behavioral models, in addition to the spread of individualism that is one aspect of social change, in compliance with modern life, thus the achievement of social control is positively influenced by the strength of the bonds between the kinship ties at their macro level.
