This study aims to research the issue of the independence of the Algerian supreme judicial council and monitor the development of legislation through the 2016 and 2020 constitutional amendments.

there is no independence of the supreme judicial council in light of the 2016 amendment due to the composition of the council, which is characterized by the superiority of the executive authority within it.

however, the 2020 constitutional amendment brought about reform.

significantly regarding the independence of the supreme judicial council through constitutional zing and amending its composition, and expanding and constitutional zing its powers.
