The present research aims to explore the presence of cultural references in contemporary Maghreb Sufi poetry.

the study assumes that the transformation of spiritual experiences into written expressions involves conscious or unconscious incorporation of cumulative influences from religious, historical, mythological, and philosophical backgrounds.

the utilization of Sufi themes within contemporary Arab poetry, as an epistemological and ontological stance, possesses distinct characteristics and underlying principles.

therefore, it becomes imperative to analyze these cultural references, which subtly manifest through aesthetic patterns, using a cultural approach.

to achieve this, the study focuses on the poetic collection "Reading the burnt biblical books" by Muhammad al-Khalidi, a prominent figure in contemporary Arabic and Maghreb poetry.
