Sustainable development is among the priorities of the Algerian state's strategy, because it is a process that takes into account all dimensions, especially the environmental dimension, and preserves resources, the Algerian legislator has been keen to pay attention to the environment and to adopt a sustainable development policy that enshrines the preservation of the environment, this was manifested in several legal texts, development projects and programs, but there were still several manifestations indicating a delay in the development process.

during this article, light will be shed on the concept of environment and sustainable development and their interrelationship, Algeria's experience in this field and the challenges it faces.
