تناول البحث الموارد التي اعتمدها جوناثان ليونز في تأليف كتاب بيت الحكمة إذ يعد أحد مفكري ومستشرقي التاريخ المعاصر، وتنبع اهمية هذه الموارد من موضوعاتها التي ناقش من خلالها المؤلف القضايا السياسية والفكرية المعاصرة لاسيما الصراع الإيراني الأمريكي، والحركة الاصلاحية في ايران والعقبات التي تواجهها، والنظرة الغربية للعالم الاسلامي وقضايا الإرهاب وما خلفته من حروب وصرعات لا زالت قائمة الى الوقت الحاضر، وقد ناقش المؤلف في كتبه الجذور التاريخية لنشوء هذه النظرة ابتداء من الحروب الصليبية، فضلا عن دور المؤسسات الدينية والاجتماعية والثقافية الغربية في ترسيخ هذه النظرة ومحاولاتها الكثيرة في خلق شرح في العلاقات الاجتماعية والفكرية بين العالم الإسلامي والعالم الغربي، وتناول المؤلف دور العلم الإسلامي في تنمية العلم الغربي وتطوره، وأكد المؤلف على ضرورة اعتراف المؤسسات العلمية الغربية بهذا الفضل وعدم نكرائه ومد جسور التعاون .

The research dealt with the resources adopted by Jonathan Lyons in writing the house of wisdom book, as he is considered one of the thinkers and orientalists of contemporary history.
in his books, the author discussed the historical roots of the emergence of this view starting with the crusades, as well as the role of western religious, social and cultural institutions in consolidating this view and its many attempts to create a rift in relations.
social and intellectual relations between the Islamic world and the western world, and the author dealt with the role of Islamic science in the development and development of western science, and the author stressed the need for western scientific institutions to recognize this virtue and not to deny it and to build bridges of cooperation.
