Abstract EN

This study aims to spotlight on the concept of work for the Algerian individual, by exploring the perceptions and representations that the Algerian worker has in his mind about work and its repercussions on the level of practice and profitability.

work is a common feature between humans and animals, represented in the biological dimension, as the animal is also an organism that is forced to work instinctively and biologically to ensure continuity and survival, and this is the common denominator between them and human beings, except that human being is a rational being, has been able to make work indeed, it has a purpose that transcends the biological dimension to other dimensions that are targeted at the economic, social, psychological and cultural levels.

therefore, the problematic centered on the following questions is formulated as: how does the Algerian worker perceive the concept of work? is the concept of work for the Algerian worker limited to its biological (instinctive) dimension, or does it transcend it to other human purpose dimensions? does the cultural and religious factor have a role in defining the concept of work for the Algerian worker? to answer these questions, we used the analytical and comparative approach, and relying on the cultural heritage of (popular wisdom and proverbs) as a source that frames the perceptions and defines the concept and dimensions of work for the working class in Algeria.
