Irony is one of the most prominent and important rhetorical techniques in modern critical studies, as it allows writers to enter the world of the literary text and delve into new meanings, and it performs several functions whose levels differ from one text to another.

although there are several types of irony, most studies have been limited to linguistic irony, and Adnan al-Sayegh's texts are filled with many types of them, especially pictorial ones.

the importance of this research lies in the study of the and collection in the poetry of Adnan al-Sayegh; it tries to address many topics, notably the irony of presence and absence, as most of these themes appear mixed with the pictorial irony.

in the end, the study analyzes the narrative text, mentioning the techniques used, and focusing on the poet's use of this type of irony.

the study is done according to the descriptive-analytical approach.
