Abstract EN

This study seeks to raise a question about the impact of gender identity on the feminist historical novel in its representations of the relationship between the East and the West, focusing on the novel "Shaghaf" by the Egyptian writer Rasha Adly as a model of these feminist historical novels.

"Shaghaf" novel is distinguished by presenting a romantic love relationship between an Egyptian girl and a French man who came with the French campaign to Egypt.

The romantic relationship was constructed in a manner contrary to the tradition of the relationship between the colonizer and the colonized and its entanglement with the sexual relationship in the Arabic novel.

Hence, this study is concerned with revealing the narrative schema employed by Rasha Adly to construct this romantic relationship and uncovering the unspoken in order to build a romantic relationship between the colonizer self and the colonized self.
