Abstract EN

This study aimed to reveal the expected role of the university in confronting contemporary intellectual currents that deviate from the moderation of Islam in the light of 2030vision.

to achieve this goal, an opinion poll was directed to a purposive sample of (40) academic experts in Saudi Universities to identify the most important contemporary intellectual currents deviating from the moderation of Islam.

the most important of these deviations were: staying away from the Muslim community, spreading division, and heresy, striving to disrupt god’s commands and prohibitions, and siding with the enemies of Islam for personal reasons or interests.

a questionnaire was also applied to (135) members of the teaching staff at King Abdulaziz University to reveal their approval of the importance of the expected roles that the university should play to confront deviant intellectual currents to promote the moderation of Islam.

the results showed the importance of all roles to a very high degree.

the results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences on the total questionnaire according to the variables of gender and specialization, while there were differences according to the variables of administrative position, academic degree and years of experience in the direction of each of the faculty members who do not occupy an administrative position, those with the rank of assistant professor, and those with experience less than five years.
