The study focuses on the issue of camps for displaced persons in the districts of Zakho and Semel as an influential factor in the variability of the spatial and temporal distribution of the population as well as the accompanying demographic, economic and social problems, as these camps were established as a result of the displacement of the people of Sinjar district in 2014 after the attack of ISIS and the occupation of the area, so this study came to highlight the variables that resulted from these camps through the study and measurement of the population For the size of the population of these camps and their development over time and their role in the population variation at the judicial level of Zakho and Semel and their administrative units during the period (2015-2020), this study aims to reveal the variability of the spatial movement of the population, its size and trends in the districts of Zakho and Semel and their administrative units with a focus on the role of camps for displaced persons in this, and the study relied on the inductive and analytical approaches The study revealed a significant role for IDP camps in the variability of population growth at the level of Semel district and its subordinate districts compared to Zakho district and its subordinate districts because of the presence of (7) camps within the boundaries of Smil district, and (4) within the boundaries of Zakho district.
