The Iraq-Kuwait issue is an old one which return back to the border which was made between the two countries.

Also returns back to the discovering oil on the border between the two countries.

After the Iranian-Iraqi war was ended in 1988, the Iraqi-Kuwait relations have deteriorated significantly which ended with the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

The position of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries at the beginning of the Iraqi military invasion of Kuwait was characterized by condemnation and demand for Iraq to be out from Kuwait, the return of the legitimate government, and Kuwait's demand from the Security Council to take the necessary measures against Iraq and deterring it.

Because of Iraq’s nonresponse to that demands, The Gulf Council countries decided to use the military solution as a final means after all diplomatic methods with Iraq were failed.

This reaction was decided because the Gulf Council countries were afraid of the same which happened to Kuwait.

As for the decision of the State of Qatar, which it became clear the role played by the State of Qatar and its Prince Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad in coordination, consultations, and mobilization in order to help the Kuwaiti people and government which included all political, economical, military, humanitarian sides, and putting pressure in all ways on Iraq to end its occupation of Kuwait.

Qatar State was the first of states which condemned the aggression, demanded the Iraqi withdrawal, the return of the legitimate government in Kuwait and participated in its military forces in the process of liberating Kuwait.
