This study dealt with a semantic web Ontology technique and its role in information retrieval by presenting its concept, structure and construction of Ontology as well as the capabilities It provides to the user to retrieve information and access It in the digital environment.

Where this paper presents theoretical concepts in the subject of semantic web ontology and highlights the relationship between the techniques that each of them provides in information retrieval in order to know its role in raising the efficiency of information retrieval systems, which achieves its retrieval through semantic search engines
