Abstract EN

In order to materialize the principles of two-tiered litigation in the criminal field enshrined by the Algerian legislator under the constitutional amendment of 2016, and in line with it, law No: 17-07, which strengthened the composition of jurors in the criminal court, whether first instance or appeal, to reach the number of 04 jurors, in order to achieve fair trial guarantees for the accused in line with international requirements, this study aims to show the effectiveness of strengthening the popular element in the criminal court over the judicial element and its role in establishing criminal justice, highlighting the advantages and shortcomings of this law.
